The name
Named for a wood that sinks
Lignum vitae is Jamaica’s national flower and one of the densest woods on earth. It is heavy enough to sink in water. Shipbuilders turned it into bearings for propeller shafts because it lubricates itself and outlasted the bronze fitted around it. Clockmakers used it for the same reason.
A material chosen because it lasts longer than the machine it was fitted into. It seemed like a fair thing to hold a book to.

Lignum Publishing is incorporated in New Jersey and founded by Cherie A. Williams, a CPA who lives between New Jersey and Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth. The list is edited from both, which is roughly the point.
The books are written from a Caribbean vantage and published for readers anywhere.
